Color!

March 28, 2008

After years of dorm and apartment living, I really embraced color when I bought my house last year. I was so tired of white, lifeless walls! So now, my front hall is brick red, my kitchen is teal, my living room is a rich, creamy latte, and my dining room is soon to be leaf green (its currently a weird shade of pistachio left by the previous owners that looks great in some light, but awful and faded in others). And the downstairs bathroom is that gorgeous eggplant, that I’ve mention before. I love it. Everything just flows so nicely, and its interesting to look at.

My latest obsession though has been pink walls. There’s jut something about them that looks so fabulous. I know that I’ll never get approval from the husband to tackle one of the first floor rooms with pink paint (nor would I want to- if I lived alone my living room would almostdefinately be pink, but I feel like thats too weird with a man living in the house), but I’m playing around with the idea of trying it out in either the guest room or my bathroom.

They all just make me want sit lounge around, wearing a fantastic skirt, and sipping my favorite strawberry-rose tea out of a pretty mug. That would be the life.

Apparently I love parenthesis. Oh well. Deal.

Have you ever seen the show Father Ted? Its ok if you haven’t- I only know about 2 people that have. Basically, its an Irish show about some crazy priests living on a crazy island. Its HYSTERICAL. And oh so wrong.

To the men in my life

March 20, 2008

If I’m being crabby and you suspect that I have PMS, for the love of all that is good please don’t tell me that! Trying to be subtle by bringing me chocolate and saying that I seem like I need it is no good either. And it won’t help. Just leave me alone and I’ll be fine in a day. If you don’t you’re likely to have something thrown at you. Or worse. Never say I didn’t warn you.

If I had a million dollars, I would buy you some art

March 16, 2008

I’ve been looking for months for something to hang over my couch. My living room walls are blank (save for the creamy latte colored paint I treated them to) and calling for something fabulous. I’m having trouble finding something appropriate though- everything is either too loud, not colorful enough, too “done,” or way, way too expensive.

I stumled across this site last night, and have a feeling I may find my solution.  ts all originals, but since they’re done by students they prices are lower than you’d likely find in an established gallery (Plus I hate galleries- they’re intimidating and never have price tags). I also like the idea of giving my money to someone that’s just starting out.

I find these pieces very inspiring:

48″x60″, $1,200

60″x 36″, $700

30″x 24″, $1,200 (done in crayola crayon!)

18″ x 12″, $150

$400

(This one brings me straight back to the main hall of D’Orsay)

There is seriously so much talent on this site! If you’re in the market for some art, you should definatley check it out. I also love the way its set up- you can browse by medium, size, price, school, color, genre, artist, etc. And if you click on something you like, it will reccomend some other similar pieces.

I love pink

And I love everything about this dress. I’m thinking about getting it to wear to my cousin’s wedding this Spring, but I’m not sure if it would be too much with the shoes that I want to wear… Whatdo you think- too many bows or no?

This seriously give new meaning to “playing with your food.” Amazing! Although something about blowing into a carrot look kind of dirty to me (and whoa- look at the size of some of those veggies! Its like they’re on steroids!)

Yum

These sea salt almonds caught my eye when I was at the grocery store earler.  I think they reminded me of a bar snack that I had once.  Anyway, they’re super good. I’m not normally a huge fan of almonds either, but these have a nice saltiness (but not too salty either). And there’s a cute little measuring gauge on the side so you can make sure that you don’t eat too many.
